Em Fevereiro de 2004 o Australian Flexible Learning Framework (AFLC) começou um forum Online, com o tema "Getting Started in Flexible Learning", tendo sido moderado por Judy Fawcett, sendo dirigido fundamentalmente a jovens com muita flexibilidade em aprendizagens relacionadas com as novas tecnologias e empenhados num processo de descoberta guiada. Deste fórum nasceu o artigo seguinte:

This is a relatively new term for the online publishing of files in a way that allows for subscription-like syndication and distribution as they become available. Podcasts are generally audio in MP3 format but other formats and other types of files, such as video can also be podcasted. A podcast is often described as ‘an audio magazine subscription’, in that a subscriber receives programs without having to get them, and can listen to them at leisure.

Short for Rich Site Summary, an XML format for syndicating Web content. A Web site that wants to allow other sites to publish some of its content creates an RSS document and registers the document with an RSS publisher. Syndicated content includes such data as news feeds, events listings, news stories, headlines, project updates, excerpts from discussion forums etc.
